From Atlanta Zone District Sales Manager, Matt Seiler: “We would like to congratulate you on winning runner-up for the monthly Love Promise Award! You continue to exemplify what it means to live the Love Promise and being more than just a retailer. Your efforts to support the community and share the Love Promise is a great reflection upon the quality of people that work for your organization. Thank you for sharing your Love Promise story. It’s your commitment to your local community and dedication to the Subaru Love Promise that makes Subaru More Than a Car Company!” See below for winning story written by Kate Fickell, Marketing and Events Director at Fairway Automotive Group.
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization with a mission for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access through a global network of volunteer-led book-exchange boxes. Fairway Subaru is excited to be a part of that network! We recently registered our own Little Free Library box to put diverse, inclusive, and beautiful stories in the hands of those who need it most.
In 2023, Little Free Library’s map was searched 2.5 million times; that’s more than 230,000 searches per month! We are gearing up to add our library to that map here in Greenville alongside the many other organizations who support reading. Our marketing team has been hard at work collecting books from staff and customers to supply the “take a book, share a book” initiative through Subaru Loves Learning. We are excited to officially install our library here soon at Fairway Subaru!
Why is that important? Today in the United States, more than 30 million adults cannot read or write above a third-grade level. Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own. Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role by providing 24/7 access to books (and encouraging a love of reading!) in areas where books are scarce here in the Upstate. Through this program, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
